Senior Showcase
AutoCAD - InDesign
In my Senior Showcase class I was assigned to construct a 8' by 10' room. I decided to challenge myself with this project and design the room in a style I was unfamiliar with, Modern Japanese Minimalism. I also challenged myself to use recycled materials in the construction of my walls and couch in order to create a sustainable design.
In my preliminary design of the room I decided to create an outdoor living space with slatted panel wall partitions. While designing the walls I was very conscious of the limited time frame of 8 hours, I had to set up the room before the showcase so I designed my wall in 3' and 4' sections on casters for easy transportation. The majority of the wood used in the construction of the walls and the couch was sourced from discarded pallet boards.
I selected minimal intentional furnisher for my room and decorated the space with plant life to give the room a peaceful atmosphere.
Overall, the Senior Showcase was successful and there was a good turn out. Guest of the Senior Showcase easily understood what style of design I was portraying and commented positive feedback.
